You can download things and use them but, of course, there are no guarantees&#8230;  This is my playground, kids.  This is a quick script for\u00a0<strong>Centos 5.5<\/strong>\u00a0that compiles a couple of superfluous packages, but which works fine.\u00a0<strong>It compiles Nginx 1.38, by the way.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Nginx, PHP 5.2.9, MySQL 5.1.56, APC, etc. on Centos 5.5<\/h2>\n<p><strong> I know very little about Nginx <\/strong>&#8211; I only started fooling with Nginx, recently. \u00a0I\u2019ll post more details about this thing, later. But, for the time being, suffice it to say that this will install a full-featured LEMP server \u2013 including an example virtual host, phpmyadmin, etc. \u2013 by simply executing a single script. It\u2019s utterly brain dead and gives you a working example of Nginx, if nothing else. It uses Centos 5.5 and some older packages because I have a bunch of older apps on my server. For the time being, I find it useful. Will you? I have no idea. Could this be better? Sure. Like I\u2019ve said, for the time being it works for me (for testing) \u2013 bada-boom, bada-bing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s the drill:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Install Centos 5.5 and choose to customize the installation packages\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Add the \u201cDevelopment Tools\u201d or the compile will not go very well\u2026.<\/li>\n<li>Do not install MySQL \u2013 it gets compiled\u2026<\/li>\n<li>Do not add any repos \u2013 things could go haywire\u2026.<\/li>\n<li>I don\u2019t install Apache with this, either \u2013 you could\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.webputzer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/NGINX_INSTALL.tar.gz\"><strong>Download Simple Nginx Install Package<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Again, this script \u201cdeal\u201d adds a virtual host, the domain name of which you can change. It\u2019s for the purpose of illustration, only. Wahoo.<\/p>\n<h2>Add Media Capabilities<\/h2>\n<p>I get bored while things compile so I run the following script.
